Pavlo Bohutskyi

Pavlo Bohutskyi graduated from the Crimean Academy of Environmental Protection and Resort Development in June, 1999 and achieved Specialist’s degree with Honors at Civil Engineering, with specialization at water and wastewater engineering.

Since 1999 he has been working at the Department of Water Resources and Power Engineering, trying to combine the teaching with research and engineering work. In co-operation with Crimean State Institute of Municipal Engineering, Pavlo participated in the project of reconstruction of domestic wastewater treatment plants of several cities of the Crimea. The goal of their team was development of the most cost effective processes flow sheet for achieving the required quality of treated wastewater.

Pavlo believes that development of reliable and cost effective treatment processes for high strength wastewater is of great importance for environment. He focuses on the methods, which allow to recover all usefull components from wastewater, for recycling and energy production. Another area of expertise Pavlo specializes is drinking water quality.

With the support of a 2008 International Fulbright Science and Technology Award, Pavlo is pursuing doctoral study at Johns Hopkins University and is affiliated with the Department of Geography & Environmental Engineering.

The Department works on water resources, water quality, and treatment processes as well as on the modeling and analysis of public policy, including water resources management, energy distribution and markets, simulation of market responses to environmental policies, environmental justice and ethics, and integrated assessment of climate policy and impacts.
