Democracy and Democratic Values in the Information Age

The Fulbright Program in Ukraine is pleased to invite you to an open lecture "Democracy and Democratic Values in the Information Age" by U.S. Fulbright Scholar 2014 Jeffrey Matsuura, to be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, 6:30 pm, at the Fulbright Office (20 Esplanadna Street, Suite 904, M "Palats Sportu", Kyiv).

Jeffrey Matsuura will speak on the impact modern communications and information technologies have on democracy and democratic institutions. The presentation will also discuss the ways in which those technologies present both opportunities and challenges for efforts to preserve and protect democratic values.

Jeffrey Matsuura is an American lawyer who advises clients, teaches, and writes on issues associated with law and technology. He is the author or co-author of seven published books on law and technology topics.  He is a member of the adjunct faculty of the University of Maryland University College and an International Affiliate of the faculty of law at the University of Otago in New Zealand.  He has advised major technology companies and governments in several nations including China, Canada, Jordan, Palestine, and Lebanon on technology law and policy. Mr. Matsuura previously served as a Fulbright Senior Scholar in New Zealand and he is currently teaching in the faculty of law at Kyiv Taras Shevchenko National University.

Lecture will be presented in English.
