TRUTH IN THE AGE OF GLOBAL MEDIA
On Tuesday evening May 10, 2016 at 6 p.m.

Ukrainian News Press Center, 20 Esplanadna St. 1st floor, Metro Palats Sportu, KYIV

In journalism ethics today we are searching for universal principles because the media are global. Truth has been a premier principle of journalism in print and broadcasting, and is still relevant for the revolution in media technology around the world. Journalism cases and research will be used by Prof. Christians to illustrate how the truth principle can be applied internationally.

Prof. Christians has written and lectured extensively on media ethics; he is a co-author of Media Ethics: Cases and Moral Reasoning, as well as Responsibility in Mass Communications, Good News: Social Ethics and the Press, among others. He is a Research Professor of Communications at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and also a Professor of Journalism and a Professor of Media Studies. He has a B.A. in classics, a B.D. in theology, an M.A. in sociolinguistics from the University of Southern California, and a Ph.D. in communications from the University of Illinois. He has been a visiting scholar in philosophical ethics at Princeton University and in social ethics at the University of Chicago and a PEW scholar at Oxford University.

The lecture will be presented in English. Simultaneous translation into Ukrainian will be provided.

Those interested in attending the lecture are encouraged to register.
