VWS Fellowship in Holocaust and Genocide Studies for Ukrainian Citizens

Нідерландський Центр вивчення Голокосту і геноциду представляє програму оплачуваних стажувань для українських вчених. Суть стажування полягає в тому, що українські фахівці, що володіють англійською мовою, на період від півтора до трьох місяців відвідують Амстердам і, користуючись консультаціями співробітників Центру, вивчають англомовну літературу по проблематиці Голокосту та іншіх геноцидів.

Цільова група учасників представленої програми - історики, етнографи, політологи, антропологи, літературознавці і соціологи, у сфері наукових інтересів яких знаходиться Голокост, а також геноцид і інші тотальні порушення прав людини; зокрема, Голодомор і інші масові репресії в СРСР, геноцид вірмен, геноцид в Сребреніце і “етнічни чистки” в колишній Югославії, геноцид в Руанді, терор червоних кхмерів в Камбоджі, а також суміжні теми - зокрема, історія України в Другій світовій війні.

Пріоритет у відборі приділяється молодим ученим, що отримали ступінь кандидата наук вже в поточному тисячолітті, а також аспірантам.

Часові рамки чергового періоду програми - з верecня 2008 року до кінця 2009 року включно. Не виключене продовження програми й надалі.

The Chemistry Department of Temple University in Philadelphia, PA is looking for qualified students who are interested in obtaining a PhD in chemistry.

Students can start a PhD program after completing four years of study in Ukraine. Students who have completed five years of study may be able to transfer some of their courses for credit towards the PhD. Students do not need to pass through a Master's degree. They can apply directly for a PhD.

Students admitted for a PhD receive FREE tuition, a stipend (about $22,500 for 2007-08) and health insurance. Supplementary fellowships are also available for the most highly qualified students.

We admit students for the Fall Semester (begins at end of August) and the Spring Semester (begins in mid January). Although our official deadline for full consideration is February 15, we do accept applications on an ongoing basis. Graduate study in Folklore — funding available University of Alberta — Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

The Ukrainian Folklore Program is accepting applications to its graduate program in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of Alberta. The program offers both the MA and PhD degrees. Courses cover the verbal arts, both prose and poetry, material culture, ritual practices in Ukraine and Canada, folklore theory and ethodology, and folk belief. Students may choose fieldwork in either Ukraine or Canada or a combination of the two and a recent agreement with the Rylskyi Institute of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences should expand field and archival research possibilities in Ukraine. Opportunities for language training are excellent and students may include work in Lviv as part of their program. Courses in fields related to folklore include humanities computing, anthropology, museum studies, and ethnomusicology, along with a wide range of choices in other departments. Our degrees prepare students for a variety of interesting jobs and recent graduates have found employment in academe, in musin archives, and in the public sector, notably working with immigrants and in medical humanities. Graduate support is generous and students typically work as both teaching assistants and research assistants. Research assistantships include database and archival work and thus contribute to training and employability.

Program Description: Three award programs are offered for research in residence at the museums, research institutes, and offices of the Smithsonian Institution. Open to postdoctoral scholars, predoctoral students conducting dissertation research, and graduate students conducting individual research.

Program Description: AAAS selects 20-25 Mass Media Fellows each summer to work for 10 weeks during the summer as reporters, researchers, and production assistants at radio and television stations, newspapers, and magazines. The goal of the program is to improve coverage of science and technology in mass media by placing advanced science, mathematics and engineering students in newsrooms across the country

Program Description: Postdoctoral awards for research in oceanographic sciences or engineering and policy at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.

ФОНД СПРИЯННЯ ДЕМОКРАТІЇ

Мета програми
Фонд сприяння демократії спрямований на підтримку перспективних проектів, призначених сприяти демократичним перетворенням в Україні. Фонд сприяння демократії — це ціленаправлений, але гнучкий механізм, спрямований на фінансову підтримку унікальних та перспективних проектів, особливо таких, що сприяють розвитку спроможності та самозабезпечення НДО в Україні. В проектах, які отримують грантову підтримку, організації вказують на конкретні досягнення та їх вплив на певну сферу чи громаду. Починаючи з липня 1996 року, близько 300 проектів від українських недержавних неприбуткових організацій одержали фінансування за програмою "Фонду сприяння демократії".

Головні вимоги до проектів
Гранти надаються виключно українським організаціям, що мають статус недержавних та неприбуткових. До таких належать: громадські організації (асоціації), благодійні фонди та аналітичні центри. Хоча максимальна сума фінансування одного проекту складає 24,000 доларів США, середні суми грантів становлять від 5,000 до 15,000 доларів США Американські та іноземні організації, а також громадяни інших країн не можуть претендувати на отримання фінансування за даною програмою. Проекти мають подаватися за рекомендацією співробітника Посольства США в Україні, який є громадянином США (до цієї ж категорії належать волонтери Корпусу Миру, співробітники Агентства США з Міжнародного Розвитку та працівники контрактних організацій Посольства США, наприклад IREX, ACCELS, IRI, NDI, Проект Гармонія).

Грантові заявки необхідно подавати на англійській та українській (або російській) мовах. Крім даного конкурсу, Посольство США проводить регіональні та тематичні конкурси, де вимоги до організацій та проектів можуть відрізнятись від даного конкурсу. Слідкуйте за оголошеннями на веб-сторінці та у місцевих ЗМІ.

Тематика проектів
Тематичні пріорирети Фонду сприяння демократії:

• Права людини — освіта, моніторинг, повідомлення про порушення прав людини: У заявках необхідно вказати, які прошарки населення будуть цільовими та які види діяльності заплановані в рамках проекту та після його завершення;

• Верховенсто права та реформа в галузі права: Реформи в різних галузях права, юридичні клініки/надання юридичних консультацій, підтримка проектів правозахисних груп та діяльність після завершення проекту;

• Економічні реформи: Сприяння ініціативам у сфері ринкової економіки, розвиток малого та середнього бізнесу, реформи в аграрному секторі тощо; підтримка зв'язків між громадськістю та приватним сектором; лобіювання податкової реформи та інших питань стосовно підприємництва;

• Підтримка громадських ініціатив: Ініціативи, що сприяють подальшому розвитку, ефективності та самозабезпеченні третього сектора;

• Розвиток виборчої системи: освіта виборців та моніторинг виборів, навчання членів виборчих комісій, тощо;

• Антикорупція та прозорість уряду: Освіта та ознайомлення громадськості із даними проблемами;

• Торгівля людьми: Проекти спрямовані на ознайомлення із проблемами, їх запобігання та юридична допомога;

• Рівність жінок, етнічних та інших меньшин: Захист, юридична допомога; проекти із створення асоціацій і т.п.
