In 1981 graduated from Ivan Franko State University of L'viv, Department of Geography. 1987-1990 — research assistant at Tbilisi State University (Georgia), Geological-geographical Department; since 1990 — assistant of Physical-geography Department at L'viv State University. Defended candidate thesis “Landscape-geophysical analysis of the Great Caucasus high-mountain landscapes” (1994). Since 1997 — assistant professor (Docent) of L'viv National University.

Worked on probation at the following universities: Freiburg (Germany, 1997-1998), Gent (Belgium, 1999-2000), Syracuse (the USA, NY, 200-2001), Greifswald (Germany, 2003). Scholar of Fulbright (2000-2001) and DAAD (2003) academic exchange programs. Consultant in the field of nature conservation at the Swiss expedition in the Pamir (2001). Held researches in the national parks of Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Tajikistan, Ukraine. Main scientific direction: ecological and economic management problems in natural protected areas.
