International Education in Strengthening Academic Rigor and Credibilit

The Fulbright Program in Ukraine is pleased to invite you to an open lecture "International Education in Strengthening Academic Rigor and Credibility " by U.S. Fulbright-Clinton Fellow 2015-2016 Alexis Ramos, to be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, 6:00 p.m., at the Fulbright Office (20 Esplanadna Street, Suite 904, M "Palats Sportu", Kyiv).

International Education in Strengthening Academic Rigor and Credibility

Globalization is no longer a new phenomenon, but it continues to impact the ways in which the educational community interacts with its students and its faculty. As technological advances makes education more accessible, challenges arise as educational institutions and countries grapple with international degree recognition procedures, quality assurance and maintaining or building cultures of academic integrity across borders that become less restrictive each day. This discussion will touch upon the ways in which international education as a developing structure, and its participants, add to the strengthening of academic culture and, ultimately, will be the trailblazers for education that will surpass the development visa-free travel policies and free economic areas.

Alexis RAMOS is the 8th Grade Level Chair at Invictus Preparatory Charter School (Brooklyn, NY); Teach For America Corps Member (New York, NY); Marketing Director at Core Mobile, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA). She is currently serving as a Fulbright-Clinton Fellow at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Ms. Ramos received her B.A. in History, Slavic Languages and Literature from University of California (Berkeley, CA) in 2012; her M.A. in European Interdisciplinary Studies from the College of Europe (Warsaw, Poland) in 2013; and her M.S. degree in Teaching and Curriculum from Fordham University (New York, NY) in 2015.

Ms. Ramos will utilize her educational background to help implement educational reform plan in Ukraine in the year 2015-2016. Many of the goals outlined in the plan have 2016 deadlines and Ms. Ramos' hands-on involvement will allow her to delineate the plan's progress and challenges, while positing some possible strategies for carrying out some of the more challenging aspects of the plan.

The lecture will be presented in English.

A wine and cheese reception will follow.
